What Does a School Counselor do?

  •  Talks with students individually and in small groups

  • Gains understanding through observation and participation in the classroom

  • Meets with students to discuss important topics such as friendship, emotions, and even careers!

  • Works with teachers and families to help students achieve

  •  Helps all students grow as happy, healthy, and successful individuals

  • Supports the well being and mental health of all.

You might contact me if...

  • Your child says he/she has difficulty with friends at school

  • Your child is having difficulty with changes in your family such as divorce, remarriage, new baby, job change, loss, etc.

  • Your child is having difficulty following the rules at school

  • Your child does not want to come to school

  • You are in need of community resources or an outside referral

  • Referral to the Student Assistance Program S.A.P.

Referrals may be made by...

  • You, the parent/ Guardian

  • School Nurse

  • School Staff Members

  • Child Behavioral Service Manager 

  • Even your child

In Counseling, please be aware that confidentiality is maintained except:

  • In cases of suspected abuse or neglect

  • If a child poses a danger to self or others

  • If a child and/or parent/guardian gives permission to share information
